Overview
This project focused on predicting the maximum achievable speed of a custom-designed powerboat hull. The client required accurate resistance values at varying speeds to assess the vessel’s performance limits under operational conditions.
Approach
A 3D model of the hull—incorporating several form refinements—was simulated using STAR-CCM+. Resistance curves were generated across multiple speeds to identify performance trends and determine the hull’s top-speed potential.
Software & Tools
- STAR-CCM+
- Free surface modeling (VOF)
- Multiple hull configurations
Key Outcomes
✅ Speed-resistance curve generated
✅ Accurate max speed estimation
✅ Performance validated through iterative hull refinements
